Pizza of the Day!

I call this pizza the Green-Preserve-Pizza. Besides the usual cheese and tomato sauce and tofu, this pizza has green olives, capers, and a pickled jalapeño pepper. See...those three items are both green and preserved. There's a reason one of us is writing this blog while the rest of you are just reading it.

Pizza of the Day!

Artichokes, green olives, mozzarella, pesto, red pepper, tofu and zucchini are on this here pizza. And in case you failed to notice, I listed the ingredients alphabetically. You failed to notice. Didn't you?

Pizza of the Day!

Actually the pizza of two days ago. Smoked tofu, cherry tomatoes, green olives, green peppers, mozzarella and Parmesan.

UPDATE: I have been informed that there were also artichokes and pesto.

Pizza of the Day!

Today's pizza is...hey, wait a minute...that's not pizza. True, it's actually socca, which is a chickpea flour type flatbread from Nice (nice). There are other variants throughout southern France and Italy, such as farinata or cecina. The main ingredients are chickpea flour, water and olive oil, though the one I made has tomatoes, rosemary, and Parmesan, as per a recipe from Madhur Jaffrey's wonderful World Vegetarian cookbook.

Pizza of the Day!

Actually it was the pizza of a couple days ago. It had mozzarella, cheddar, pecorino and parmesan cheeses, halved cherry tomatoes, broccoli florets, tofu, olives, artichokes, and little dollops of pesto. It was good.

Pizza of the Day

Today's pizza, the "Last Day of September but That Has Nothing to Do with the Name Pizza" has tomato sauce, tomato, pesto, olives, onions, and mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. "Wait a moment," you ask, "what are those round things on the pizza?" Very observant you are. They are chickpeas.

Pizza o' the Day!

Today's pizza, a pizza I like to call the "I have a lot of leftover basil so I should make pesto pizza pizza," has green peppers, tofu, olives, mozzarella, tomato sauce, mushrooms, Parmesan and, of course, pesto. Home made pesto, by the way. (Yes, I'm bragging about my ability to make pesto.) Now, I have to go eat...

Pizza of the Day!

Actually, it was the pizza of two days ago.

It has tofu, green peppers, green olives, zucchini, and three (3) types of cheese: Mozzarella, Parmesan and Manchego. Ooh, Manchego.

Pizza of the Day: Summer Solstice Edition

Here's today's pizza, a traditonal summer solstice pizza:

It's got mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan cheeses, zucchini, red pepper, jerk tofu (jerk!) green olives, pickled jalapeno pepper (thanks Mom!) and tapenade. Yeah, it's a bit lopsided...so what? You are too.

12.10.07

Pizza of the Day

Today's pizza, my first in a while, has zucchini, red peppers, onions, mushrooms, and gouda and brie cheeses. I should have put the brie on later, as it turned into little puddles of liquid. Still tasty though...

While we're on the subject of pizza, the pizza contest will be ending soon. The entries thus far are undergoing a very stringent and rigorous testing process, and a winner will be announced before too long, but any entries I deem acceptable and worthwhile will still be admitted. Oh yeah, whoever it was that entered a pizza anonymously (no, not you Sparky)...I still don't know who you are.

Contest Update!

Thus far in the pizza contest, we have one unnamed entrant, one joker and a serious lack of fresh ideas. Does no one crave the fame associated with having me name a pizza after them and posting it here? Have I overestimated or misunderstood your attention-whoring ways?

Pizza of the Day & Contest Time

Today's pizza has big chunks of tofu, red peppers, green onions, olives and a whack of garlic. Oh yeah, and Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. And, it's almost round. And there's dried basil baked into the crust. Which brings us to the contest. My pizzas seem to have been lacking a certain flair and creativity of late. I don't mean to say I haven't been enjoying them, just that they're lacking a certain level of excitement. This is where you come in: In the comments section make recommendations of new pizza ingredients or combinations of ingredients that I haven't thought of or tried yet. The only rule is no meat. I'm the judge so I decide who wins. The prize: I name the pizza after you, post it on my blog and you get the public recognition you so obviously desire.

3.6.07

Pizza of the Day!

Today's pizza has jerk tofu, mushrooms, red peppers, green olives and green onions. Oh yeah, and some Gouda cheese too. Has anyone else noticed that I can't make a round pizza?

5.3.07

Pizza Of The Day!

I like pizza as much as Sparky likes prime numbers, which is a lot. Happy 37th muchacho!

Today's pizza has marinated tofu, spinach, tomatoes, green olives and garlic. And if you'll excuse me, I will now go eat it.

18.2.07

Pizza Of The Day

Today's pizza has tomato sauce, mozzarella, jerk tofu, red peppers, mushrooms, garlic, green olives, parmesan, and, yes, capers.

Back In The Oven

Those of you who remember the tragedy I suffered recently should be happy to know that I am to be numbered once again among those who have pizza stones in one solid piece. Thanks to Ming Wo for exchanging their faulty goods and thanks to Donna for arranging and performing the exchange. And thanks to whoever it was that invented pizza. Unless that person was an Italian, then I'm not sure I can be too thankful towards you yet, as I'm still not quite over Germany being knocked out of the World Cup by the Italians. Perhaps eating pizza is my first step towards healing. Anyway, I made my first pizza with new stone today. The toppings: zucchini, tofu, tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic stuffed green olives, and mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.A tasty success and as you can see, the stone remains whole.
